Old St. Louis Road in Desoto, Missouri |
Lead | |
|
I'm trying to find more information about Old St. Louis Road in Desoto. I need better directions on how to get there from St. Louis, there are about 4
different ways to get on Charter Church road and once there, I don't know how far down to drive before I'm supposed to turn on the "gravel road
that leads into the woods". Has anyone been there and can you tell me where to go? I'm not even sure if I should take 55 all the way down or should I
use 67?
If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it! Thank you! |

djfunkvallie--welcome and hello. I live in Missouri, but I've never been there. Have you tried Googling it on their directions or maps?

djfunkvallie,
Welcome to Shadowlands.. Sorry you are unable to locate any further information.. I saw what you are asking about from this page.. http://www.theshadowlands.net/places/missouri.htm Desoto -OLD ST.LOUIS ROAD - OFF HIGHWAY 67 AND OLD CHARTER CHURCH RD. THERE IS A ROAD THAT IS CALLED OLD ST. LOUIS RD. THE STORY IS THAT IN THE 1800'S IT WAS USED TO GET TO ST. LOUIS FROM FARMINGTON. IN BETWEEN 1800 AND 1954 THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIED. NOW THEY ALL HAUNT THIS ROAD. THE DIRECTIONS ARE TO FOLLOW OLD CHARTER CHURCH RD. UNTIL YOU COME TO A GRAVEL ROAD THAT LEADS INTO THE WOODS AND KEEP GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 15 OR 20 MPH. KEEP GOING FOR ABOUT 2 OR 3 MINUTES AND STOP THE CAR. TURN EVERYTHING OFF AND SIT IN COMPLETE SILENCE WITH YOUR WINDOWS DOWN HALF WAY, ALL THE WAY IF YOUR REALLY BRAVE. MANY THINGS START TO HAPPEN LIKE SOUNDS OF PEOPLE TALKING IN THE WOODS AND PEOPLE WALKING AROUND. THE MOST COMMON ONE IS A GIRL STARTS SCREAMING VERY FAINTLY AND IT GETS LOUDER AND LOUDER AND THEN STOPS. AFTER A FEW SECONDS GOES BY THEN A MAN WITH BLOOD ALL OVER HIM COMES OUT OF THE WOODS AND STARTS A CONVERSATION WITH YOU. ANOTHER COMMON THING THAT HAPPENS IS WHEN YOU LEAVE YOU SEE A FLIPPED CAR IN THE ROAD WITH A MAN THAT ASKS YOU TO HELP HIM FLIP HIS CAR BACK OVER. BEFORE OR AFTER YOU SEE THIS YOU START FEELING HANDS AND FINGERS START TOUCHING ALL OVER YOU LEGS AND BODY. I am sorry but you may have to actually look up a map in your area and search for the name of the Old St. Louis road.. I would look up old maps of your area and seek to find out what the new name of this road is and maybe? Check your city hall for maps of the area and look up any additional information from another source. It may be frustrating but you may have to do some research to locate this information. People send the information to Shadowlands and they add the information to the their pages. I am not able to change or edit these locations for I am not the owner of the ShadowLands .. Sorry but I this is all I can do as a moderator .. I can pass the information on to one of the owners but even that may not help get better directions for you because whom ever wrote that information is heresay and not nessary true or proven as fact! The site index of Shadowlands is for possible haunting or locations of spiritual activity it is not to be used as a road map to these locations but as possible hauntings.. In addition one should follow the laws in addressing any of these locations and always get permission from the owners too.. Do not tresspass? If you want my personal opinion of this location it sounds to be a place of folklore and or possible urban legend! Sorry I can not help further.. |

Sorry djfunkvallie..
I hate to bust your bubble but I have to be honest and after I have read some of the entries of some of the places in the Shadowlands index, many are actually great places to look into and one can for they are actually noted and real locations.. I just have to be honest when I read some of the explanations others state and that tells me that some of these persons who give information do so as for fun and to see who actually is going to believe the urban legend or haunted place!! I would instead maybe look into locations in your area that are know or maybe places friends or family may mention to you !! Sorry if this was not what you wanted to hear!! I know that for me after years of seeing and interacting with spiritual forms, that many times one does not have to look to far for most of the time the spirits seem to come to me or others!! Sounds strange but it does happened!! I want to note what it says on the main index page.. We created this page to help answer the numerous questions we get regarding local hauntings and ghosts. It is a state by state, country by country listing of haunted places. This page requires your help to grow. If you know of a haunted place that is not listed , please read the info below on how to add a place and submit it, thank you and enjoy the page. With your help, this can be one of the largest listings of haunted places on the net. It already has 1000's of haunted sites listed. We can't guarantee that all of the places that are listed are haunted. We.re sure that some of these are just local legends and folklore, but often these legends do spring out of past events. They are many places that the legend concerning it may be wrong, but the place still may be haunted.

Old StL Road looks like it is now a dead end. It looks like it runs into Tomahawk Trail, but it doesn't. Would have to go North from Rouggly Road. Looks
like a good hour and a half from the Greater StL Area. Though the story is questionable, may be a cool place to go check out. Just moved to the StL area from
KS and I miss driving around the back roads.
As for finding old roads anywhere go into the county appraiser's office. I know in KS they have maps far back into the 1800's.
Zombies are driven by an unnatural, evil hunger to consume the living that originates, presumably, from some source of boundless evil such as Hell, Satan
, or (most likely) Oprah.

That's a good idea about the county appraiser's office, thanks ZombiHunter.
