This post carries very good information for anyone out there that may fall victim of of these very scrupulous people, they do exist. Fraudulent Mediums are big business in all country's,they are only in it for the money, they are good at what they do and are not always easy to spot. Most of the time they use a system of cold reading, where they prey on the emotions of people mainly who are grieving or being troubled by an entity, they fish for answers and read responses in the body language, posture and facial expressions. If what that post says, saves one person from getting ripped off by one of these people, then it has served its purpose. I for one congratulate Sydney for writing what she has. I don`t know about the US but here in GB the laws against fraudulent mediums have recently been updated and can carry a custodial sentence and this I welcome. I applaud you Sydney for standing up for what you believe in.

I think we have met the same person/group But, what I wanted to add is....ever seen that episode of GhostHunters where a young 'goth' couple who decorated their home in a haunted mansion type style insisted that their home was haunted? And then when their haunting was 'debunked', they were very disapointed and refused to believe it? One of the investigators said it best...that they wanted they home to be haunted so badly, that they actually believe it. So some of these people who believe they really are gifted but are not, perhaps they feel the same way? Their intent was not to defraud, they just thought that they were really helping. Perhaps these people don't even realize that reading facial expressions, head nods, even a constant 'am and I?' after each question posted, is not really being a sensitive? What is worse than doing these kinds of things for money, is doing it for trust. It's the worst deception.

Registered Member (06/29/09 08:46 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Hello MsGray Hi ktkat Then there are the type who do private readings in their homes .do you know there was one over here who had a Pa that answered the phone when someone rang for an appointment and asked the person on the other end,why she/he wanted a reading , who they were hoping to contact,then got in to the chat of being sympathetic with the person,got them chatting about how their loved one died , what from, and many other details, she would then make the appointment for about a month away. When that person gets in front of the medium they are astounded by the accuracy of the reading...happily hands over £50 and books their next appointment because the medium has told them that they need a follow up appointment because there was more info to be said, but the 30 mins were up and the medium was drained....similar carry ons go on on the psychic telephone lines. I have spent many years over here ,helping to expose the ones that are out just to con people. You wouldn`t believe the lengths some of them go to get what they want. `

Ms. Gray, Thank you as well. Part of it may be that they believe it so fervently that they go out of their way to think up something that just isn't true. However, in their efforts to help, they can harm and make it worse. That scares me. However, being a fraud who does it for profit-it sickens me to the core. Ktkat9-out of respect for the invdividuals involved, I won't disclose details. THe person at the epicenter of the haunting has some peace, and that's what's important.

It sounds like they were found out and were forced to stop the scam. I am happy to hear that those people wont hurt anyone else. Sydney- I totally understand! Registered Member (06/30/09 11:26 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Somewhere in past few months, several of us were warning our members not to get involved in telephone psychics or to put your faith in what a TV medium might say, for they typically just go by a script or use visual clues and research to come up with facts to get you to believe them, and hardly ever tell you anything you don't already know. But, it's a great idea to have a separate post like this, in case anyone missed the point. We will do our best to keep charlatans who make false or misleading claims from operating in the message boards, and must rely on our members to let us know of fraudulent practices. There are two ways of spreading light... to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.. The light at the end of the tunnel might only be the beginning!

When I say this I am refering to some of the more well known mediums such as John Edwards, Slyvia Browne, James Van Praagh and others.. Each medium has their own speciality and each may or may not charge for services.. If we are going to be looking at mediums that we should look at all of them and that means maybe discussing what it means to be a medium and what are the various types of mediums.. By just addressing one side of the debate on mediums as some are fake or not real ones there is still the other side of the coin where the other mediums may be associated too.. I know that I have come in contact with both good and bogus mediums.. What I realized in the end is that it is based on one's personal opinion and that can be very heated if taken only from the side of judgeing the others said mediums.. Since this is turning into a hot topic.. What are some types of mediums and who are the ones that are famous ones ? Is charging a fee acceptable or not for services provided? Are psychic the same as mediums? Are mediums the same as psychics? Can a medium be a psychic or the other way around? Opinions please.. Just one more thing.. When discussing I am going to set some ground rules.. 1. No personal attacks of any kind .. 2. Keep to the facts only.. 3. No personal feelings or emotions.. just what you believe or what you do not believe in!! 4. Address the issue not the other person's posts or how they post? 5. Keep the dialog up and informative and with detail etc.. Any questons PM me about this..

I was shown that we are all extensions of the Universal Spirit and those of us with special gifts had an obligation to help our fellow human beings; that charging for that help only led to those gifts being taken away. I believe that to this day. I have never consulted and will never consult a "psychic" who charges money. One thing I would like the moderators to look into; in the last two months alot of ads for "psychics" have been appearing on this board. Personally, I find them offensive and would like to see them gone. I realize Yuku needs to fund its services, but I'd prefer they do it here with some other ads. jdf

I've picked up on a few things that are very good points you made.... Often times not just on this topic...but it's human nature in general that something gets started by one person's personal OPINION on a topic...and not necessarily FACT....then the rest of the community just goes along with it being the accepted solution/answer....without investigating it for themselves. " <---- for this part of your post Merlyn.... Honestly I don't care for them in the least... even if their abilities are legit. It just seems to be more like a 3 ring circus to me.... and doesn't help in the validity of true people like us with these abilities... I am speaking mainly of John Edwards. Maybe it's just me but I cant stand him...or how he commercializes these abilities... I take mine extremely seriously...and he just seems like more of a "showman" to me...which in my opinion can hurt the legitimate physic/medium/etc...community. Others may agree or disagree....that's just my honest opinion as someone truly born with these gifts/abilities.

I'm still semi-impressed with her and estimate her accuracy rate at around 50-55 %. Edwards and Praagh are probably similar to her in rating. I do not think of these numbers as all that impressive. I can not say how I arrived at these numbers, but I have watched S. Browne on TV and have heard her in many interviews. Sometimes she can be wildly inaccurate. I suspect there are those here whose abilities vastly outshine her and her companions. One well known instance of her fallability is the Shawn Hornbeck case, where on national TV no less, she informed his parents that he was deceased and that a pile/outcrop of rock would mark his final resting place. I knew, no sooner than I heard this, that she had erred. This is what I intuited from the Hornbeck case: Preliminarily, I saw the white truck, pictured him dead, and saw a pile of wood. About a year later I knew part of that was wrong. He no longer felt dead. The white truck and the pile of wood remained. I also pictured his kidnapper (roughly). When he was located we learned this: that he was abducted by a man in a white truck and had been living in Kirkwood. And he was very much alive. Maybe I should charge.
